Celebrity Edge Mediterranean Cruise: Luxury at Sea

I’ve always loved cruising—despite the stereotypes—and after around doing several cruises over the years, I still think it’s one of the best ways to explore multiple destinations in one trip.

Having sailed with Princess Cruises, P&O Cruises, Cunard and MSC, this was my first time with Celebrity Cruises—and easily my favourite so far.

📍 Locations – 9/10

We boarded in Civitavecchia (around 90 minutes from Rome). We stayed in Rome the night before, but next time we would look to explore Civitavecchia itself and stay the.night before we board the ship.

The itinerary was a great mix of favourites and new spots (plus one sea day):

  • Corsica – a first visit and a highlight of the trip with beautiful beaches! Next time I’d book a snorkelling trip but am keen to spend more time exploring this beautiful island.
  • Portofino – Absolutely picture perfect! Don’t miss the walk up to Castello Brown for incredible views.
  • Florence / Pisa – We skipped this stop due to the long transfer and have done both before so it was nice to have a quieter day onboard.
  • Cannes – Perfect for a relaxed wander, lunch, shopping and a dip in the sea.
  • Palma – One of my favourite European cities—great to explore the Old Town, wander into the marina and utilise the beach.
  • Barcelona – Our final stop, where we stayed one night before heading home. I love Barcelona and find it such an easy city to explore.

🛏️ Room – 9/10

We chose an infinity veranda cabin for the extra space and views—definitely worth it. The room felt modern and well-designed, with one of the largest bathrooms I’ve had at sea.

Highlights included a super comfortable king-size bed, clever storage, and twice-daily housekeeping. The only downside: no access to an iron, meaning paid laundry was the only option.

🎭 Facilities & Activities – 8/10

Entertainment was a real standout—especially the live music! The comedian and magician were also great!

The gym was spacious with great classes to sign up to if you are into your fitness and has a running track around the ship. Boarding was incredibly smooth—we were on the ship and in our cabin within 10 minutes.

The main drawback was the spa pricing (around £180 for a massage), which felt excessive. The outdoor pool area could also get crowded, and it wasn’t particularly baby-friendly, which is something to be aware of for families.

🤝 Service – 8/10

Service across the ship was fantastic—friendly, attentive, and consistent. From housekeeping to restaurant staff, everyone made the experience feel seamless.

The only minor issue was occasional delays at the bars due to limited staff. That said, both the cruise director and captain were engaging and added a fun, personal touch throughout the trip.

🍽️ Dining – 8/10

There was plenty of variety when it came to food, and most options were included—from the main dining rooms to casual cafes and the buffet.

We didn’t try the specialty (paid) restaurants as the included dining was more than good enough, but they’re a nice option on longer cruises.

For drinks, there are lots of great spots onboard, but my favourites were Eden for pre-dinner drinks and the iconic Magic Carpet bar—both offering vista sea views. Definitely head to the back of the ship for a drink to see stunning sunsets!
